Six figure success for local supplier Lakeland Office

 A Penrith office supplier is celebrating the completion of a £100 000 contract with Energus, Cumbria’s new £20 million training academy at Lillyhall near Workington.

Lakeland Officepoint at Penrith is working with partners at Energus, particularly John Dyson, the Academy’s Operations Director to equip the new facilities ready for their first students in September.

Defence and security markets to be opened up for NW firms in July at special event in Barrow in Furness

In a joint venture between Furness Enterprise, UKTI and the Ministry of Defence, Furness Enterprise is, as the latest part of its ongoing “Real Help Now” for businesses programme, offering businesses of all sizes in Furness and North Lancashire the chance to take part in a defence and security workshop on 15th July at the Waterside House Business and Conference Hub in Barrow in Furness.



Doosan Babcock Energy to hold Tier 2 Supplier Event in West Cumbria

Doosan Babcock Energy will be hosting a supplier event at Energus, Lillyhall, Workington on 20 July 2009 to present procurement opportunities to the local supply chain. In addition to opportunities to participate in Sellafield projects, Doosan Babcock will also be presenting wider supplier opportunities across the Doosan Babcock work portfolio. Also, six of Doosan Babcock's key subcontractors will be advertising their supplier requirements.

For those wishing to engage further, meet the buyer sessions will be available on the day with procurement officers.



Hundredth CART loan making a difference for Trainrite

The Cumbria Asset Reinvestment Trust (CART) has made its 100th loan, this one to a specialist training company, Trainrite, based in the Lillyhall Business Centre at Workington.

John and Angela Caffrey set up Trainrite in 2002 and their range of courses has developed to include all sorts of industrial training – from crane and excavator driving to manual handling and high-level access – as well as motorbike qualifications and other aspects of health and safety awareness.

European Commission Opens Energy Infrastructure Fund

 The European Commission has opened the bidding for funds from their multi-billion euro energy stimulus package.

Nearly €4 billion is available across Europe over the next two years for projects relating to offshore wind, carbon capture and storage, and improving gas and electricity infrastructure.

In the UK, funding from the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR) will be available for:
