WCBC/BECBC member and West Cumbrian event management company, Nu-Tech Associates Ltd has been awarded a prestigious contract to assist the Royal Navy in hosting a series of commissioning ceremonies for the Astute Class submarine at its HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland.

Cumbria Community Foundation Teams Receive National Recognition

BECBC member the Cumbria Community Foundation has been short listed for two prestigious national awards. These are the Fundraising Team of the Year Award and Finance Team of the year in the Charity Times Awards 2010.

This is a fantastic achievement considering the Community Foundation is competing against much larger regional and national charities. Other short listed charities include the Princess Royal Trust for Carers and the British Heart Foundation. The winners will be announced at an Awards Dinner in London on 1st September.

The Technology Strategy Board is investing up to £2m in feasibility studies to stimulate innovation and strengthen the supply chain in the area of nuclear R&D and its applications.

New Funds available in West Cumbria - BNFL ‘Live the Dream’ Fund

2008 marked the end of BNFL’s management and operation of the Sellafield site in West Cumbria. To celebrate their role over the years and to leave a continuing legacy, the company set up the ‘Live the Dream’ Fund to provide opportunities for young people in West Cumbria now and in the future.
